The primary reason for the problem is polymer degradation of the paint matrix due to exposure of UV radiation in sunshine and condensation from dew. A glaze is an additive used with paint to slow drying time and increase translucency, as in faux painting and for some artistic effects. There are numerous electrostatic methods available. Eggshell Finish has some sheen, supposedly like that of the shell on an egg.
